maine coon cat mia
Mia is our Household Pet who has done extremely well at TICA, GCCF and FIFE shows. She is Number 11 household pet in Europe after only two shows and as she won all 8 rings in her third show should be in the top ten. Her European ranking is listed at:

29th October 2007
Took Mia to the TICA show at Weston Super Mare. 8 rings over two days and she came first in all eight rings. Before the show she was ranked Number 11 in Europe (after only two TICA shows !) so she should be in the top ten by now. As ever she shamelessly played up to the judges and she seems to be acquiring a fan club.
Had a lot of enquiries as to her parentage, but alas her parents are unknown to us (which is a great shame). As is the fact that being very responsible cat owners we had her neutered at six months which rather finishes off her lineage.
7th October 2007
We took Mia to her first GCCF show at Bracknell on 6th October. Another clean sweep for her ! She won each of the eight household pet categories she was entered into, including best in show. We came home with a haul of three cups and ten rosettes. She has now done outstandingly well in FIFE, TICA and GCCF and we have very high hopes for her.
24th September 2007
We took Mia to the TICA show in Lincoln on Sunday 23rd of September 2007 (we were unable to make the Saturday show).
This was a four ring show and Mia did a clean sweep coming first in each of the four rings. We think this makes her a Supreme Grand Master but we will wait for this to be ratified.
We probably need to work out what to do next with her !
10th September 2007
As our female Maine Coons are pregnant we decided to show her as a Household Pet at the TICA show in Maidstone on the 8th and 9th September 2007. We really only took her along to keep Basher company as they grew up together.
The show was a five ring show over two days so the Household Pets were judged ten times by five different judges. We were somewhat amazed at how Mia did in the rings.
On the Saturday she got two firsts, one second and a third (plus one non-placing). We were delighted by this.
However, on the Sunday things got even better as she got four firsts and one second.
We are still trying to work out what this means in terms of her ranking and status but she appears to be well on her way to something like Supreme Grand Master of the Universe (I will correct this when I find out exactly what she achieved).
Well we now have the certificates from TICA and she is not exactly a Master of the Universe. In her first TICA show she gained the following titles:
- Master
- Grand Master
- Double Grand Master
- Triple Grand Master
- Quadruple Grand Master
Not a bad performance for a moggy whose exact type and colour we were not even sure of. We listed her as white with markings (which she is !) but the judge reclassified her as a "Seal Torby Point and White". I think this means she has virtually every type of cat in her genes with the exception of silver or blue.
The judges commented on her lovely coat, deep blue eyes and temperament. She certainly seemed to enjoy the show and liked posing for the judges.
Mia won best pet at the FIFE show in Worthing although to be honest there was not a great deal of competition in terms of the number of entries (it was a Maine Coon speciality show).
